2.2 Gigapixel Photo?

From the G4techTV forums comes this gem.

From the looks of it, it's a two-point-two gigapixel photo that allows an incredible amount of zoomifcation.

But there's been some question as to whether this is truly possible and some evidence that the photo has potentially been faked.

But actually, if you dig into the site, it gives you the whole story. It is a composite photo, made up of over 600 photos taken over one hour and fifteen minutes. It's actually a quite fascinating read.

EDIT: Okay so I just found out it's a couple months old. Still cool though.
